From Pastor Brenda Shields
After five years of serving God and the people of Messiah UMC, I will be beginning a new chapter in my life on July 1st. My family and I will be moving to Glen Burnie, MD. I will be taking some time to stay home with our young son and time for renewal. It has been my honor and such a blessing to serve Messiah and the community of Taneytown.

As of July 1st, The Reverend Patricia Dols will be the Pastor of Messiah UMC.
Pat was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Montgomery County, Maryland. She has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Behavioral and Social Sciences from the University of Maryland University College and a Master of Divinity degree from Wesley Theological Seminary.
As a second career, Pat has served as a United Methodist pastor since 1996. She has pastored ten churches of various sizes. Some of her appointments included two-point charges. Most recently, following her retirement in 2012, Pat has served for three years as the pastor of Deer Park United Methodist Church in Westminster, MD.

Prior to becoming a pastor, Pat worked for 22 years in the Federal Government for the Department of Health and Human Services where she was a Program Analyst in charge of a national grant program for the establishment of Geriatric Education Centers in schools of higher learning. She also owned her own business for three years.

Pat currently lives in Taneytown, Maryland with her two-year-old mixed breed dog, Ginger. She has two daughters, two sons and a stepson as well as five grandchildren.
